What to Expect

Home » What to Expect

Whether you join us for worship, attend a class, or serve with us in the community, you can expect a warm welcome and gratitude for your presence with us.  Worship of God at Wesley follows the traditional Christian year, and is participatory worship, not performance.  Our congregation loves to sing hymns, and finds in their centuries-old texts and tunes direct connections to how we experience our lives today and how God reaches out to us with grace.  Our worship time lasts about an hour, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m..  On the second Sunday of each month, we have a pre-service fellowship time at 9:30 a.m. in our basement fellowship hall where coffee, juice, and treats are served.  This is a wonderful time to meet members and friends of Wesley parish before the worship service.

Persons of all ages come to worship at Wesley.  We dress for the weather, and you will find folks wearing comfortable clothes that fit our wonderful U.P. environment.  From ties and jackets to jeans and sweaters, all are welcome at Wesley to join with us in worship.  For the physically challenged, we have a front door entrance ramp and electric stair chairs for access to the sanctuary and the basement fellowship hall.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month and on special occasions. Our communion table is open to all—you do not need to be a member of a Methodist church (or any church) to participate.  We use grape juice for communion so those in recovery can feel welcome to partake at the Lord’s table.
